The 12 pieces of Beat Love Oracle are finally ready!
I finished the first piece of this set on 11th November 2016. This means that it took me about 9 months to complete the whole caboodle. I’m pretty proud of the result: 12 radically different pieces, rather demanding for the four players, but reflecting the need of scores for people who love the beats in all kinds of music. In every kind of music even…
It was quite challenging for me to write more than sixty minutes of music for a quartet lacking a strong chordal instrument. At the same time incorporating a lively drum part, without falling back on the common patterns, was not easy as well. Allow me to say, that this project turned out to be one of the really brain racking projects I endeavored to make real.
All the pieces imply harmony, but eschew its clear statement. Only in the end, as a kind of salute to ‘Sofa’ by Frank Zappa, one can indulge in the diatonic chords. I embedded a small fragment in this post.
We start rehearsing again in the second half of August. Let’s hope I will be able to divulge soon some nice concert dates.
By the way, in the same period, we’ll record two songs of Carbon Fixation. With these, we hope that Leen Veldeman can convince people we’re simply the best 🙂
I wish everyone a nice holiday. I myself will try concoct something for the Triotique Trio in the coming weeks…
